|Position||Program Manager - Recycling Innovation|
Dean is currently the WW Recycling Innovation Program Manager for HP. Dean has worked for HP for 26 years. During Dean’s first decade with HP, he procured, installed and ramped inkjet cartridge manufacturing equipment around the globe including equipment startups in the US, Europe and Asia.
Driven by a passion for the environment, Dean joined HP’s Sustainability organization in 2003 – supporting HP product recycling development and the investigation into recycled plastic product applications. Dean led the effort which resulted in the implementation of closed-loop RC plastics into HP inkjet supplies in 2005. This success along with subsequent RC programs has resulted in closed-loop RC plastics being used in more than 3.8 billion HP inkjet supplies since 2005, with greater than 80% of current HP inkjet supplies sales containing closed-loop RC plastic.
More recently, Dean has been leading HP’s corporate-wide RC plastics expansion, including the release in 2016 of the first UL certified printer containing closed-loop RC plastic. Dean has also been the technical lead in HP’s ocean plastic efforts – including coordinating the recycling process partnership with Lavergne and ECSSA in Haiti and expanding the use of recovered ocean plastics across HP’s product portfolio.
